Jiuquan ±800KV Converter Station

The Jiuquan-Hunan project passes through five provinces and municipalities including Gansu, Shaanxi, Chongqing, Hubei and Hunan. It will build two converter stations in Jiuquan and Xiangtan, with a conversion capacity of 1,600 megawatts. The total length of the line is 2,383 kilometers and the dynamic investment of the project is 26.2 billion yuan. It was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in May 2015 and is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2017. This project is currently the world's longest-distance UHV power transmission project and also a key cross-regional transmission channel for the delivery of new energy such as wind and solar power. The project is of great significance for the large-scale development and bundled transmission of wind and coal power in Gansu, easing the power shortage in central China, effectively reducing smog and improving air quality, stimulating domestic demand and economic growth, and promoting the transformation and upgrading of the equipment manufacturing industry.
